Selection of Imported Leather Dyes and Methods for Dyeing Black

Abstract

Selection of Imported Leather Dyes and Methods for Dyeing Black

1. How to choose and use imported leather dyes

In the production and processing of leather, the selection of leather dyes should consider performance, quality, color, brand, and price. The technical issue of ensuring good penetration of dyes used by tanneries is quite challenging, as many factors can reduce the fastness of dyeing. Imported leather dyes contain BlackFT and BlackGRN, which are acidic leather dyes with strong penetration and high dyeing fastness. Their molecular weight is less than 350, and they have good permeability, with only one SO3H group, making them more suitable for primer dyeing. The dyed leather has a rich color and high fastness. Moreover, the operation is simple; just add the fuel powder directly.

2. Methods and experiences for dyeing black with imported leather dyes

There are many types of leather quality, and the corresponding performance of leather dyes also varies, so the dyeing methods differ significantly. For black dyeing of pig leather, it should be thoroughly dyed, and no other fillers or retanning agents should be added during the dyeing process to avoid affecting the hand feel and color. Both cowhide and sheepskin must be thoroughly dyed. To ensure that the dyed leather is completely penetrated, the dye must fully penetrate the inner layer of the leather. Therefore, the neutralization of the blank before dyeing must be completely transparent, with all methyl red test paper turning yellow, and a pH value of 5.5-6.0. The purpose of neutralization is to reduce the positive charge on the surface of chrome-tanned leather. The penetration dyeing method generally uses a low-bath method at room temperature. This method also greatly improves the absorption of the dye. Because the concentration of leather dye is high, and the skins are pressed against each other to promote the penetration of the dye, it does not excessively adhere to the surface like traditional methods, affecting penetration, and avoids pollution caused by excessive dye in the residual liquid. However, care must be taken to prevent skin tangling. Usually, a small amount of oil or a small amount of SY anti-chain agent is added to control it. When dyeing is needed, we often use BlackFT, which can easily penetrate the inner layer of the leather and takes only 30 minutes to penetrate the leather. BlackFH/C is used for top dyeing. Due to the short rotation time during the dyeing process, the looseness rate of the finished leather surface and the tearing rate of the leather are reduced, and the price is lower.
