Leather Dyes: Concept Analysis and Usage Instructions
Leather dyes have an affinity for leather and can be used for coloring leather products. Coloring of leather products can use acid, medium, direct, and alkaline dyes, etc. Neutral dyes are usually used for spraying. The dye is required to be slightly soluble in water and easily soluble in organic solvents such as ethylene glycol, ether, ethanol, or dimethylformamide. It is mainly used for spraying and coloring pigskin, cowhide, sheepskin, and other leathers.
According to their use, they can be divided into two series:
(1) The D series refers to dyes suitable for leather immersion dyeing;
(2) The SP series refers to dyes suitable for leather spraying and coloring. Popular aniline leather and napa leather are light-colored leathers that are coated with a small amount of paint or unpainted. It needs to bond well with leather fibers, have high fastness (e.g., lightfastness, washfastness, abrasion resistance), good dyeing uniformity, and bright colors.
Apparel leather also requires dyes to have good dry cleaning (solvent) performance. Specialty dyes for household leather refer to some metal complex dyes that are specifically developed and produced for leather dyeing. They are mainly used for spray dyeing and are ideal dyes for producing high-quality leather. There are more than ten colors available.
Common leather dyes and their characteristics
Commonly used leather dyes in the leather industry are usually divided into two categories: water-based dyes and anhydrous dyes. The latter has significance for leather dyeing.
Smaller commonly used water-soluble dyes, mainly anionic acid dyes, direct dyes, reactive dyes, cationic alkaline dyes
dyes, two-component metal complex dyes, and magnetized alkaline dyes.
L-type liquid dye - leather spray dye for dyeing leather and wool products.
Product introduction: This product is a liquid dye that can be completely miscible with water or solvents and is an environmentally friendly liquid dye.
Usage: Surface spray dyeing of leather dye products, dyeing of suede.
Leather dye usage reference:
(1) Can be diluted directly with water in any proportion and mixed with water-based resins, casein, additives, etc., for surface spraying or curtain coating.
(2) Dilute directly with water according to the required ratio, add water-based contact agents, add to dye wool products, heat for a certain time, roll and stir, take out, wash, and dry.
